Volunteer with IMPACT Tallahassee

What to Know

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with IMPACT Tallahassee; we are always in need of volunteers and have opportunities that you can get involved in right now! All volunteers gain hands-on experience with children aged 6 weeks through 21 years old of all abilities through our Preschool, Academy, Afterschool, Summer Escape, and Therapy programs.

Please read this page in full and complete the necessary paperwork if you are interested in volunteering with IMPACT Tallahassee. There are several documents included at the bottom of this page that will assist you in becoming a volunteer with IMPACT Tallahassee. Follow the steps outlined in the document “My Steps to Become a Volunteer.”

All of the programs at IMPACT Tallahassee are geared towards children with special needs. All volunteers will get hands-on experience playing and helping with a range of abilities. We serve all children – including children with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, mood disorders, and more.

Preschool

IMPACT Preschool provides care and education for infants through VPK. Children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old with and without disabilities will be present in this program. Hours are 7:30am – 6:00pm.

Academy

Our private school serving over 30 children with special needs ranging in age from kindergarten to 12th grade. IMPACT Academy follows the Leon County School calendar. School starts August 10, 2022 and runs through May 24, 2023.

Afterschool

Monday through Friday from 3-6. Kids participate in group music therapy, arts and crafts, obstacle courses, homework help and other activities meant to foster social skills. This program follows the same schedule as IMPACT Academy.

Summer Escape

IMPACT’s Summer Escape camp caters to children with special needs. It runs June 1 through August 1 from 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday.

Therapy

Our therapy department services children from birth through 21 years of age and specializes in speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, music therapy, and behavior therapy. (Please note that we are not currently accepting applications for volunteers to shadow our therapists.)
