IMPACT Preschool was founded to ensure that children of all abilities were able to gain educational and developmental opportunities tailored to their specific needs. To ensure all children are receiving care optimized for their abilities, we utilize a team-based approach to programming and care. Children are immersed in daily adventures of hands-on learning experiences and opportunities that foster each child’s optimum participation and social, emotional, and developmental growth. We use the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards, Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) Objectives for Development and Learning (ODLs), and VPK standards to govern and guide our instruction within the Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT), Creative curriculum and Conscious Discipline framework.

Who is eligible for IMPACT Preschool?

IMPACT Preschool aims to serve all families in need of high-quality early childhood education services.  We accept students who are typically developing, as well as students with special needs or delays.

As part of our inclusive school model, we strive to fulfill our commitment to meet each child’s specific needs both educationally and developmentally.  Our team works diligently to bring these vitally important components together in one place by offering one-on-one therapy services.  We offer occupational, physical, speech and music therapy, in addition to contracting with outside agencies for behavioral services.

IMPACT Preschool is an ELC (Early Learning Coalition) School Readiness and VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) provider.

About the Curriculum

IMPACT Preschool uses The Creative Curriculum and Beyond Centers & Circle Time (BCCT) curricula framework in conjunction with Beyond Cribs & Rattles (BCR).

The Creative Curriculum encompasses a forward-thinking, comprehensive, research-based program for early childhood education. Using exploration and discovery as a way of learning, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. The Creative Curriculum is based on 38 objectives for development and learning, which are fully aligned with the School Readiness Goals in Head Start and early learning standards for Florida.

Beyond Centers & Circle Time (BCCT) is a nationally recognized curriculum that has been built on over 35 years of research and study of best practices for the care of young children.  BCCT is a framework designed for individualized learning designed with specific information for children who are developmentally 3-5 years of age.  The framework is designed to allow the child to experience learning in a safe, supportive environment nurtured and supported by trained caregivers.  Opportunities are provided within the framework to promote each child’s individual learning styles and educational needs.

Beyond Cribs & Rattles (BCR) is an adaptation of the BCCT curriculum components, designed with specific information and opportunities for children developmentally between birth and 2 years of age.

IMPACT Preschool utilizes Conscious Discipline to teach social and emotional intelligence.  Children and staff members practice self-regulation strategies throughout the day, such as deep breathing and age-appropriate language related to feelings and events to assist each child with the ability to self-regulate. An excerpt from Conscious Discipline®: Building Resilient Classrooms (page 16) by Dr. Becky A. Bailey further explains:

Conscious Discipline® is based on a Brain State Model that empowers us to shift from educational systems grounded in controlling others to cultures of learning based on safety, connection and problem solving. Conscious Discipline® is organized around the Seven Powers for Conscious Adults that help the adult to manage her internal state (safety), the creation of the School Family that utilizes connection to foster cooperation and optimal brain development (connection), and the Seven Skills of Discipline that empower the adult with strategies to teach children to self-regulate and problem solve (problem-solving).”

I am proud to be a part of a team that puts others in front of themselves.

The positive energy the staff brings to the center every day, helps you know your little one is being well taken care of. Everyone at the center have truly become a part of our family now and we will be forever grateful for each and every one of them. Everything is so great that now we are also looking forward to their after school program!

I can’t say enough great things about The Summer Escape program! Trusting people when you have a child with special needs is often a scary thing. You want to make sure the people surrounding your little one are kind, caring, and able keep them safe. We are so lucky to have found this program and love all of the people who help run things.

The most comforting aspect as a parent, is knowing that my son is in an environment where he can learn and is understood. I am very thankful for the school's mission to educate kids with learning differences and the teachers and administrators that make this happen every day.

We struggled with the school placement decision, because we wanted to find the right school that would be a good fit for our son. I am so glad that we chose IMPACT. [...] His teachers have been amazing, and we have seen progress in his ability to focus, independently complete classroom assignments, appropriately interact socially, and speech improvement. They have put the time and effort towards his individual needs, and we are reaping the rewards.

We struggled with the school placement decision, because we wanted to find the right school that would be a good fit for our son. I am so glad that we chose IMPACT; they are so helpful, caring, and understand my son’s specific needs. They have accommodated his needs on so many levels, which I believe would have been unmet at other schools.

The environment is inclusive, safe and our son looks forward to his sessions. We are very thankful for the summer camp programs. The VPK program was amazing for him as well.

Our son has a rare genetic syndrome, delayed development and learning disabilities. We have been bringing him to IMPACT Tallahassee since he was 1-year-old and he will soon be 10. The staff in the office, the teachers, the aides are all amazing with the children; I'm very impressed with their professionalism and compassion. I personally recommend IMPACT to people on a regular basis.

IMPACT Tallahassee and their staff have become such an important part of our lives over the last 9 years. We couldn't imagine not being there on a weekly basis.
