Summer Escape 2024

Welcome to Summer Escape!

Summer Escape is a summer camp for children and teens with special needs, between the ages of 5 and 21. With a staff trained in implementing individualized support systems, we are ready to tailor the experience to ensure every child has a summer worth remembering.

The camp will have weekly sessions with options for half-days and full-days, as well as early drop-off and late pick-up. Each week will have an overall theme and daily activities include music time, arts and crafts, dance parties, and so much more!

Summer Escape will be from May 28th through August 2nd, 2024. Please direct any questions to [email protected]

2024 Camp Themes:

Each Tuesday, campers are encouraged to dress in their best costumes based on that week’s theme. Themes have not yet been assigned for 2024, but here are some examples of themes from last year!

  • Week 1 Around the World we go: This week we will get to explore so many different countries! We are going to do cool crafts, explore common games played in these countries and so much more.
  • Week 2 Carnival Fun: This week will feature a carnival theme, with games, crafts, and activities inspired by the circus and carnival atmosphere.
  • Week 3 Career Week: This week we are learning all about the different careers, and what we can be one day. There are going to be visitors from all different careers visiting us and telling us all about what they do.
  • Week 4 Animal Kingdom: Explore different ecosystems and animal habitats this week, with animals visiting us here at IMPACT, wildlife adventure, and a nature scavenger hunt.
  • Week 5 Space Adventure: Explore the wonders of space, with activities related to planets, stars, galaxies, and space exploration.
  • Week 6 Under the Sea: Dive into the world of marine life, with activities focused on ocean creatures, habitats, and environmental conservation.
  • Week 7 Superheroes: Campers can become superheroes this week by learning about real-life heroes, participating in team-building activities, and creating their superhero personas.
  • Week 8 Christmas in July: Who doesn’t like Christmas? We are going to be decking the halls this July for a special theme of Christmas in July. There will be holiday joy, crafts, games, and lots more fun!
  • Week 9 Camping Adventures: This week we’re going on a camping adventure, we’re going to explore nature, tell campfire stories, and much more.

Registering for Camp

Registering your child for camp with IMPACT Academy is easy! Simply print the registration packet, then either bring it by in person or send it via email! The first week’s payment and supply fee must be paid when submitting your registration.

Additionally, if you have a copy of a current IEP, we would also love a copy of that! Any information you can give to help us tailor your child’s experience will be welcomed. We’d love to have your child join us as we embark on a summer full of fun.

I am proud to be a part of a team that puts others in front of themselves.

The positive energy the staff brings to the center every day, helps you know your little one is being well taken care of. Everyone at the center have truly become a part of our family now and we will be forever grateful for each and every one of them. Everything is so great that now we are also looking forward to their after school program!

I can’t say enough great things about The Summer Escape program! Trusting people when you have a child with special needs is often a scary thing. You want to make sure the people surrounding your little one are kind, caring, and able keep them safe. We are so lucky to have found this program and love all of the people who help run things.

The most comforting aspect as a parent, is knowing that my son is in an environment where he can learn and is understood. I am very thankful for the school's mission to educate kids with learning differences and the teachers and administrators that make this happen every day.

We struggled with the school placement decision, because we wanted to find the right school that would be a good fit for our son. I am so glad that we chose IMPACT. [...] His teachers have been amazing, and we have seen progress in his ability to focus, independently complete classroom assignments, appropriately interact socially, and speech improvement. They have put the time and effort towards his individual needs, and we are reaping the rewards.

We struggled with the school placement decision, because we wanted to find the right school that would be a good fit for our son. I am so glad that we chose IMPACT; they are so helpful, caring, and understand my son’s specific needs. They have accommodated his needs on so many levels, which I believe would have been unmet at other schools.

The environment is inclusive, safe and our son looks forward to his sessions. We are very thankful for the summer camp programs. The VPK program was amazing for him as well.

Our son has a rare genetic syndrome, delayed development and learning disabilities. We have been bringing him to IMPACT Tallahassee since he was 1-year-old and he will soon be 10. The staff in the office, the teachers, the aides are all amazing with the children; I'm very impressed with their professionalism and compassion. I personally recommend IMPACT to people on a regular basis.

IMPACT Tallahassee and their staff have become such an important part of our lives over the last 9 years. We couldn't imagine not being there on a weekly basis.
